What to do in the event of an accident

YOU MUST-

• Stop and exchange names, addresses, insurance details and vehicle details with all parties involved.
• Record names and addresses of as many witnesses as possible at the scene of an accident. NO discussion whatsoever should be entered into as to the negligence of either party, and NO admission of liability should be made.
• Immediately contact the Insurance Administrator and give details of any loss, destruction, or damage, or claim being made against you;
• Take all reasonable precautions to prevent or minimise further loss, damage, or liability
• Take all reasonable steps to recover lost or stolen property- personal or business included
• Immediately send to the Insurance Administrator any relevant letter, claim, writ, summons or process you may receive. (Never respond to any communication without the consent of the Insurance Administrator or the insurer)
• You must inform the Police if you believe a crime has been committed, the combined damage you believe exceeds $ 3,000.00, if any person is injured or if the owner of any damaged property is not present.

YOU MUST NOT-

• Authorise any repairs
• Settle or attempt to settle or defend a claim
• Admit liability for any event, loss, damage, or injury or settle or attempt to settle or defend any claim without consent; or
• Incur any legal expenses without written consent
